They were not in areas I wanted to invest.I had a friend shoot me a number of a lady that had inherited a property and she wanted to sell it ASAP. 

I watch Brandon on the webinar use the county website and whatnot. however, I was under the impression taxes were based on value that the property was bought for and gradually go up.

We have a local lady refer tenants to us on a regular basis.

The previous owner has had the property for 20 years and was just an elderly lady whose husband passed away five years ago.

But I wouldn't try to drag my best contact (realtor/investor lady) through every step of the "boots on the ground" work that I have to do.

For over a year now I have been reading the blogs, watching podcast and of course reading several books on REI.

It's an interesting section of ft worth right now to be watching.

It is actually fun to watch and see some of the ridiculous arguments both tenants and bad landlords make.

But if I were you instead of trying to "go it alone" in any part of REI if you are new, find an REI club like @Nathan suggested and find someone to Mentor youe en if you arrange a small fee for a regular time slot to watch them work, an agent, an investor, whoever -- any successful person who's done successful deals and can train you how to think/look, how to select which *type* of REI might be right for you even.

I rented 2 rooms to a lady for $750 and have the opportunity to rent the other for $500.
