So I'm back to the question of where to invest.Does anyone have some great reports or sources of general information they rely on to make decisions, or do most people stick within their province?

(whether the author has researched the disclosure laws and knows for a fact this is true or whether it's just common sense is unknown) I could see defense lawyers continuing to have a real field day with this because so much is based literally on subjective interpretation and intent or lack thereof - both of which ALWAYS become the exclusive province of all white collar cases involving fraud.

I'll give you a bit of context to work with: I am currently taking the mandatory 7 week course to become certified to trade real estate as a realtor in my province, Alberta, Canada.

Personally i am buying out-of-province in Edmonton.

@Preston WilkinsDue to Canadian privacy law, things such as foreclosure lists, probate lists, delinquent mortgage lists, etc. are difficult to produce and, in most instances, illegal to sell or distribute.As a province, Ontario uses power of sale in lieu of judicial foreclosure, so the first public notification will be a "Notice of Sale" in the classifieds section of the local newspaper and/or in The Ontario Gazette.  

However, also do not be afraid to take a year or two to explore what you want to do with the next phase of your life.Though the enthusiasm in the recommendations of  @Jordan Redar is contagious, his option two is a USA specific programme {In Canada we have the first time home buyers programme with CMHC which will let you purchase a residential property for as little as 5% down, there are also programmes in some provinces to assist lower income individuals/families with downpayment}.
