If that's the case, then when a contract is signed, your attorney or title company would submit the contract info here to be recorded for public/government record keeping,  essentially making the transaction legal and binding in the eyes of Uncle Sam.I could totally be wrong, as I'm not familiar with NYC RE, but if I were a betting man I'd say this is probably pretty close.

The county (Alameda, CA) doesn't have an online tool to get the ownership information...or maybe I haven't found it yet.I stumbled upon blockshopper while searching for address information.

I try to analyze at least a few in the area every week for potential using what I've learned from the podcasts and various articles and tools online. 

Essentially, I look for solid investors who have good properties and want to be outstanding landlords.

BP has all the tools you need to succeed in the real estate investing business.

The Education, Marketplace, and Tools tabs give you lots to take from.  

Books and podcasts are highly valuable education tools, but they don't teach you how does it FEEL to be an investor.
