@John Hewitt - Define what the price per unit range is for the class of property and market your interested in. 

In part that is because they define success in a different way.

If your goal is financial freedom [depending on how you define that] it will much more likely come from building a portfolio of long-term rental property holds over a longer period of time.  

I think you've got a great general outline here, but what I always tell people to do first is to define your why.
