I'm not a lawyer or attorney, but seeing as how so many have been affected by this, and the amount of bad practices that they're performing, i suggest some of you get together with an attorney, and see if you can go after this company with a class action lawsuit, and see if you can not only drop your remaining charges, but get back at least some of the money you put into it.

It is not standard practice in America, and you need to disclose items like that before the lease starts.The way I see it, you have 2 options.

Easy to install and the options are practically unlimited.

That may be the most practical resolution but if they stopped paying interest they may be struggling with liquidity. 

Not all (self cert) architects though do multifamily residential so if you want to consider a few options you will have to reach out individually to find out the architect's practice areas.

I'd say about 50% of my acquisitions have leaky toilets hence it should just be general practice to address this up front.
