Hey all, I own a duplex where the 2 bathrooms are in a common area that can be accessed by either unit.

Can I write off mileage to pick up flooring, supplies, vanities, etc?

Both some simple (meaning about four sharing a toilet/bathroom and kitchen and paying less rent) and more advanced (meaning rooms with own toilet/bathroom and sharing kitchen).

The house is 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom, full unfinished basement, one car garage, and the home is located in Long Island, NY. 

The most important consideration is the effect it has on functionality:- can’t use your front door... probably want to fix that- opened up a small crack in drywall in back bedroom and no bathroom around... wait and see for a while
