I learned many things about real estate that I didn't know about, even simple things such as pulling public records of homes and seeing how much a person paid for a property as well as seeing the current year's value assessment of a home.

The only thing new here is that with Zillow the garbage AVM number is publicly visible.

Roman is correct, except the tax certificate/deed route doesn’t give you possession....it just sends it to public auction where you have to bid against everyone else.

I am concerned that because of my age and lack of money I will not be taken seriously by banks when trying to secure a mortgage.

In a perfect world my virgin purchase would be a duplex-quad, one unit of which I will live in until I can secure my second deal.
