If you are going to live there, you could also pick up a room-mate to help offset living expenses.Like Michael said, reaching out to a Realtor to help you figure out what's up with rents in the area would be a good idea.

I honestly don't think caulking around the sink, paint patches from holes on the dry wall, oil hinges, cleaning and basic maintenance would cost that much.

If you can physically visit the hotel, I'd just drop by, pick up the brochure for the hotel, look at the name plates, or maybe just ask the concierge.
