My son started a small business in Los Angeles about two years ago.  

I jumped into that deal with a commitment to make it happen, to the seller, the agent and the son living in the granny flat.

We have two children, a son 22 and a daughter 17.

One of the units has a brand new furnace and the other unit has a furnace that looks straight out of Sanford and Son.

But its also possible they know exactly what they are doing, and laying this burden on their daughter and new son in law is fine as long as it works for them.

Bryan, F-150's are just solid assets - everyone should have one.I have a son that has abused the heck out of his for years (he says it's not abused, just neglected), darn thing still gets the job done. 230K+ miles, we rebuilt the front end last summer, rest is still original on it.

This topic was particularly interesting to me because I am also in my early 20's; only difference is that I have excellent credit.

My mother is planning to retire, and depsite having a CPA daughter and son-in-law, she still believes she knows best when it comes to finances.So, I am posting this so that perhaps, in your own words, you would be kind enough to share your thoughts whether this is a good or bad idea:She plans to cash out her entire 401k ($12k) and use it to pay off her credit cards so she can retire debt free.Additional background info - she has no other investments.
