It’s very apparent that old brown wood work is OUT.

Clean all surfaces like woodwork and windows.

@Pavel K. did you clean all surfaces including the wood work on the vanity and the floor using something like TSP?

I have 12 years experience in the construction industry and additional experience outside the professional construction. 10 years of cabinetry and woodworking experience, 7 years as a high end residential electrician (no license), 2 years roofing,  drywall, plumbing, trim work... are all in my wheel house.

I have 20 yrs experience in farm/garden, construction, custom wood work.

There are loads of woodworking resources to help you online with this, but I use two double-sided Japanese wetstones in 1000/4000 and 3000/8000 with a Robert Larson honing guide for this2.
