Not sure if you're aware of the keyword notifications, but you can include cities and towns so that whenever a post mentions them, you'll be notified.

You can do what those guys suggested above and also set up keyword searches that will notify you of a word that gets mentioned in a forum post. for example "house flip". it will bring you to that conversation so you can learn or get notified of something in your area that you're looking for.

When I say trend spotting I mean things like vacancy rates (SFH/multi/commercial)  and sales trend data (prices going up/down).CityData.com is a good source along with setting up keyword alerts here on BP for each market of interest and reaching out to local Real Estate Agents and Property Managers.

If you want to skip the REIA and still find wholesalers, just go into Craigslist and search for keywords like: cash only, wholesale etc..

Jeffery - your key word of "if I think the value will go way up" reminded me of all the people who bought in 06,07,08 etc and thought the prices would go "way up".
