I was actually driving for apples, you know, just looking for run down apple trees, pies in the windows, all the usual signs.   

It’s a gravel drive way, multiple steps to the door, and no bedrooms on the first floor.

Drive the area you need the work in enough and eventually you'll see these guys doing the work on houses.

Just being able to buy it means very little standing alone.Being within 2 hours of your location doesn't make it a good place to invest...it just means you can drive there. 

Walk it through during the day, walk it through at night, drive through the neighborhood in the morning and again at night, so on and so forth.

First two were through driving for dollars and sending postcards, the third was through a referral.

Converted garage (to bedrooms I assume), chain linked fence front and back I think so no one wandered off , added a circular drive and side parking for visitors, had to upgrade the septic, 4 rolling trash bins on trash day.

I am looking to buy my first home, an STR one, and I want one that is a max 2-hour drive from NYC and that I can rent on Airbnb 90% of the time and use 10% for myself.
