My suggestion to fellow newbies(yes, me included) is to educate and learn about different aspects for about a month or two(max. don't get hung of learning every detail).  

I was taking care of a necessary evil earlier in the week:  continuing education to maintain my MN real estate license.  

I am currently in the "education" phase of REI and am reading everything I can get my hands on.

I enjoy setting my expectations low, commensurate to my RE-investment knowledge, but plan to self-educate through biggerpockets and other networks.  

In my experience, I've found that almost all causes of inaction are related to lack of education.
