I had to be geographically free because I am a military spouse, so investing in rentals 2000 miles away just wasn't in the cards for us. 

Also, on the description on Zillow, the higher amount was indicated.

I’ve used all the major players, and find the “best’ depends on the geographical area.As for StR vs motel/hotel, well I use motel/hotel for single night stays, maybe up to two nights.

@Eric Stafford I just looked at Boston because I lived there for college and they have the data on their Zoning Board of Appeals available online: https://www.boston.gov/departm...I ended up writing some Python scripts to run through the permits and convert a long-form description into a summarized bullet points.
