There was a small house on the lot at one time but the renters were cooking meth so after much fighting with the courts they ended up tearing down the house.

I even got my wife hooked on listening to the podcasts while she is cooking dinner!

You probably already know this if you've been looking at properties, but in many Chicago multifamily listings "tenant pays gas" means cooking gas only.

So I'm not entirely clear on how that structure would be profitable given the number of cooks in the kitchen, so to speak. 

we are working on this house, and done some major updates..opened up the kitchen.before:after:designed the kitchen layout, will have under cabinet lights:i am super excited about this house, we will be pulling out the bushes and cut the tree in the front (my favorite part, removing silly vegetation close to the house).we might have to stop again for awhile while we button up #25 (already rented) and fix up #26 (much closer to rent ready than this one). we are threating this as a "work on it when we have time", rather than our main project.

Not a bad idea, maybe Ill invite everyone from this thread to my backyard when i get the patio build done this summer :-)  Or someone @Ryan Arth ;-) could organize an informal akron BP meetup at the Mustard Seed Highland Square, mezzenaine, indoor-outdoor options ... coffee wine beer organic vegetable juices something for everyone
