This reminds me of a saying, something about nails and a coffin.

If you need to drive a nail, but you don't have a hammer, you spin your wheels trying to find something else to use as a hammer.

matchstick, toothpick, needle, toe nail, dirt, stick, fork, cat hair, dog hair, cat vomit, finger, dirty finger..
