I would hire a (good) painter and paint the interior trim around the front door and all of the interior doors white.

For instance, a great question to ask a painter is how they like to paint pop corn ceilings.

If it's there, painters have primers they can use to (try to) cover the smell (the primers I know of have a heavy solvent smell for X hours and are not for pet or human occupied dwellings).You could offer two solutions (recommend air fresheners be used if they stay, AND (before move in) offer to let them out of the lease).

It's much cheaper to hire a painter to just paint that than it is the whole house. 

sure, if you are painting anyway, your painters can probably take them off and put them back on for you for not much extra.
