First investment property - Paint + Winter

Kelly Pearson
Posted

Just joined this forum today!! Live in Minnesota and am looking to buy my first fix and flip. How do people in cold climates handle homes that need exterior paint (basically all homes in my price range to some degree)? Should I just look for homes that already have acceptable exteriors? No painter will do anything until the Spring.

Welcome.  There are some paint products available for colder temps but most of us try to paint before winter, go with another siding product, or wait until after.  Depends on your timeline, if I were to purchase something now it would be the first thing to get done, if I were to purchase a property in Feb it would be the last thing I would do.  I am sure some people slap paint on when it is too cold but I wouldn't recommend it as it probably won't adhere as well.
