I've noticed that within the restaurant industry relationships cannot be so close knit, as many of my previous relationships while teaching had been.

That being said, find a closed down run down free standing restaurant building, and buy that (low offer).

You want to look at the trend of the restaurant with sales increasing etc. or flat lining.

That is perhaps close to downtown work and where the latest coffee shop, restaurant, and bars are opening.  

as well, we have had to cancel My 2 year old birthday, move another party to a restaurant at an additional cost to us.

I did a $50 card to a nice local restaurant. 

I also delved into the city's local commission website and took note of various building permits and there seems to be an eminent number of plans (car washes, restaurants, parks, etc.) in the plans around different areas of the city that I'm sure will also contribute to the population and demand; not to mention, there are major resident-attracting plans in the books!
