You could trade one issue for another there..And even some asset protection folks admit you will get angry letters from the lender and may have to revert back to your name anyway if they accelerate the debt (so back to square one).

Another bit of advice, is use a general contractor who can bring in the trades so you do not have to have multiple contractors who need to get vetted, write estimates and so forth.
