In my parents' sink in their house I used the cheap generic liquid drain dissolver product they sell at WalMart (it seriously costs under $1.00 for the entire bottle) - after it sits one boils water and dumps it down the drain per the instructions and it works well.

If the bathroom in question is close to the bedrooms and it is a family house, I'd do a regular tub with a shower as no parent will want to take the kids to the basement for baths (and kids are generally afraid of basements).

Long story short, my parents just purchased a large home that we are going to live in with them for awhile, and I will be renting out the single family house that I live in now.For my next property, I would like to purchase a property and use it straight away as rental property.
