I've attended auctions and if you want a guaranteed way to lose money, buy a house at an auction in this market.

In gentrifying areas - Wash Park  or the Highlands in Denver, West Port in KC, the old North East  in St Pete, (name any other of 1000 old neighborhoods that are suddenly hipster friendly)  this can be a gold mine.So, if you've got an extra lot you need to think about.

I have only watched the recording but next month I plan to attend in person.

Look at listings, run your numbers, and attend meetups.

I Would love to find some local meet ups to attend so I can begin networking with more experienced people. 

Also go join or at least attend some local REIA or investor meetups.

I am not an expert at any of these things, but working on projects with experienced contractors has taught me a lot about construction methods, but more so taught me about how professionals operate in the biz.I have also attended architecture school at UNC- Charlotte.
