They last longer and are easier to clean.People in our area (tenants tend to be students and recently graduated young professionals) prefer to have a garbage disposal, but it's not a deal breaker.

They apparently were not worth saving and had reached the end of their useful life (the ultimate depreciation) and actually were some expense to dispose of....meanwhile, all the single family homes and multiplexes have appreciated handsomely and still generate rents....

They have a program where you can bring in up to 6 spent CFLs at a time for disposal and they will exchange them for new CFLs.
