I was attending a local REI club meeting here in New York City and an interesting topic came up regarding distressed mortgages. 

I would also suggest you make the effort to attend some of the local meetings where you can meet up with some experienced investors and learn a lot, but you also might be able to partner up with someone who has similar goals.

I am slowing becoming an active member on BP and have plans on attending several local REIA groups and hope to make connections there as well.

I would definitely be interested in attending an REIA meeting.
