That's what makes the idea of a 2 unit interesting to me...there is a separate entrance already into the basement: you walked by a locked door that leads to the upstairs 1/2 of the house.

The other day I went to look at a house (which was a total loser albeit), but had a great time just walking through and seeing all the ways it could be fixed and reorganized to maximize dollars.

At the end of the day when you are buying rentals, it's not very often you look at the house and area and say "I would love to live here" so I look for places, "I would live" and that I feel comfortable walking around and would feel comfortable living.
