I'm very excited to introduce myself to the Bigger Pockets community.My name is Pete Stevenson and my wife and I recently moved to Boise, Idaho after completing a 16-month road trip from Seattle, WA to the tip of South America.As we settle into our new lives in the USA, we are in the learning phase of real estate investment, soaking up as much new information as possible and preparing for our first deal.

Any BPers with any tips for a newbie?

Where are the properties, as you mentioned, appreciation has been very steady here in SATX, but depending on the area/neighborhood, that train is far from out of steam.  

If this was easy everyone would do it and we'd all be rich :)But I'm game, here's a few tips.'

Just a heads up for all the people out there who are advertising their units. There are some surly characters on Craigslist that like to steal your ad and entice people to send them money. The typical scam is the tell...

Plus, what they probably have is an emotional service animal (helps you mentally) vs a true service support animal (one that has been specifically trained, think seeing eye dog). 

We do put out a little basket but it’s more like just a cute greeting with an envelope to tip the housekeeper.

They see median home prices running $600K or so, and those are influenced by all these cool developers ripping out the old and put up brand new crazy-gorgeous glamorous homes -- literally million dollar homes in some cases.There are several houses in that area, very similar, same everything, that have been fixed up (in their current size and floor plan configuration) and flipped for around $285K or so. 

@Steve Uhlig a tip I have heard is go to the local Home Depot early on a Saturday morning.

Initially we were thinking of getting an LLC - wanted to get more advice/tips on the matter from you guys!
