The traffic count there is extremely high, made up of 90% vacationers, but there are no competing hotels nearby, just a handful of small cabins and bed and breakfasts.  

Currently, I've been making surprise inspections of the property just before vacationers are scheduled to arrive.

We have had great experience with vacationers but I think it has helped that we are here to greet each guest as they arrive and it doesn't hurt that we live upstairs.

There is no mention of short term rentals that I saw (I just scanned the article) but if Kelowna is a destination location for vacationers...you'll want to do some research.  

However, at a time like this where state governments have passed moratoriums on evictions and some have even halted vacationers from coming into their cities to rent short term rentals (Big Bear, CA), and whether one qualifies to be a recipient of government stimulus package monies is yet to be certain, having enough reserves to whether a storm like this becomes imperative. 

We absolutely refuse to give up our academic tenants or our vacationers and insurance companies really, really do not like the combo.
