I've been looking at Durham and the Research Triangle for both lower priced homes and a high quality of living, but they don't seem to have much of an inventory of 3-4 unit MFHs. 

I love the Triangle area though (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill).

I am currently looking in the Research Triangle area of NC.

Of course everything is cyclical so eventually we will see a downturn, but the Triangle market has historically weathered the downturns better than most.
