If you stay in Katy and want a little less headaches with newer build homes, Willow Creek Farms I think will do very well and will appreciate well with its school draw.   

Since then, we have helped my son get into a condo he owns and rents out by room while living there and going to school.

I am struggling with how to calculate school tax and property tax when I am analyzing properties and am not sure if there is a preferred method in figuring this out?

We were able to live in an area that gave our children a good education and the rental paid our very high property / school taxes.I learned to be a landlord and made good friends along the way.

I am in the Marine Corps and will be moving down to Pensacola in around 8 months for flight school.

I was able to keep that first home under the VA loan due to change of circumstances where I moved back to the San Diego area for school.

@Marquez Robinson I certainly won't tell you what you should or shouldn't do since I don't know you but here is the advice I offered my brother in law when he was in a similar situation getting out of the Navy...Go to a trade school and learn a trade - plumbing, electrical, HVAC, welding, whatever floats your boat. 

I do still live with my mother and went to a trade school so I have no debt currently, and living with her has helped me substantially save up.

Recently I've been talking with some old school guys, whom I love learning from, and they are big advocates of starting off leases month to month.
