Getting out of the army early and not knowing what to do.

I’m a 19 year old soldier , getting out of the army earlier than I’m supposed too . Right now I am in a confused spot in my life with no guidance or help on my situation. I can’t go back home because there’ is nothing there for me but negativity. I also have no where to go or live whenever I get out the army . What should be my thinking process what should I do ? Anyone could help me it would be nice thank you . -

Hello @Marquez Robinson

Although your time with the Army was cut short, myself and many Americans are grateful for your service.

Your level of awareness (especially at a young age) is a huge plus in your situation. Returning to 'negativity' may put you in a worse place.

Do you have money saved to rent/own your own space as you depart from the Army? Is there anyone else in your sphere of influence who is like minded and wants more out of life whom you can partner up with?

My recommendation at this time would be to tap into your network and to establish new & positive relationships. Begin applying for employment. There are tons of unfilled positions and I've never walked/driven past more "We're Hiring!" signs in my entire life!

Begin setting goals for yourself and take the small action steps each day that are needed to achieve those goals. 2 resources I'd highly recommend are:

- Read The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson - which talks about doing the small things everyday that will add up to major results.

- Begin writing down your goals and holding yourself accountable. I use "The Best Self Journal" - (bestself.co) and it has drastically changed the way I enter each day and evaluate my production.

As a last resort, if you must go back home, devise a plan for yourself to be out within a few weeks or months.

Best of luck to you moving forward... I truly believe you are headed in the right direction by writing a post like this and humbly asking for feedback and help.
