It looks like hardwood and if you get the peel ones vs. the click they don't sound hollow (No Personal experience on that one) However, I have been looking at it for the kitchen because it would be durable, easy to clean, and will still look great.

For flooring, I like to use VCT in kitchens and baths because it is extremely durable, looks decent (not terrific, but it is a rental and the price to durability factor IS terrific), and it outlast the peel and stick tiles or sheet vinyl.
