The purpose of the 401k is to invest passively, not to engage in any kind of business activity. 

I've found that most investors who I speak with who have already created a high level of success are just doing it at this point for the love of Real Estate investing... like its a game really!

The $10K bench mark is 2-3 buddies getting together and pooling their beer money for a down payment on a duplex.Find something a bit more "standard" before engaging in micro-lending.  

Even if they are not, it’s better to just evaluate the merit of the claim by the HOA than to engage in a comparison as to which of your neighbors is offending the most.
