I'm planning to stash my commissions to help build down payment money for my own brrrr buy and holds, much like wholesalers often plan to use the capital for more traditional investments, but being within the law, I'll be able to network and build connections without being shady.

Getting started on your first flip is an awesome process and I am glad you are working on building your network before diving in! 

We put a Wifi extender in the apartment with a guest log-in, so we are not sharing the network that we use.   

Well, for starters my name is Andrew Umphrey and I started listening to Podcasts about a year ago when I stumbled upon Clint Salter’s Dance Studio Owner Network Podcast, which has taught me a lot about my wife’s (Erin Umphrey) and my current endeavor/vision of our Performing Art’s Studio named Artists in Motion locates in Schuylkill Haven, PA.

Anyone out there who has taken a DIY approach to REI (ie not through turnkey companies) and is actively investing in 3 or more markets (meaning not just holding rentals from once upon a time but still looking and buying in at least 3) care to chime in?

Also interested in networking with realtors, wholesalers, RE lawyers etc. in the area. 

If you have little money to work with, then use your time... post ads on Craigslist, attend your local REIA and any other Meetup groups, network, door knock, do Driving for Dollars, hand write and stuff your mailers, etc, etc, etcIf you have the money but not the time, then you pay someone to do the above things.If you have neither the time nor the money you won't make it very far...

Continue to learn, network, & most importantly work on your personal financial situation.

I have tried Direct Mail, Driving for Dollars, Door knocking, Property Tax Lien list, craigslist and develop a referral network with an Estate Sales company.

You can use these events to network w/ fellow investors and possibly make contact w/ a few wholesalers.
