Should'a stuck with real estate. lolNow, several years later, I've licked my wounds and recovered, and I'm trying to get back into the swing of things here in the Dallas, Texas Metroplex.

I spent 5 years there with the Australian Trade Commission back in 70's.Because of the bad weather, pigeons & the ongoing IRA fireworks, we found it cheaper/safer to leave for 3 day weekends (flextime was great) for various Med destinations.

California, for better and worse, swings more wildly.  

I traded my new car for a down payment on a house.

Even if you strip out all the soft benefits, it's obvious that if you can trade something ( like your time), for something of much greater value (community goodwill, great PR, marketing photos, etc.) its a beneficial transaction!

hey guys,   I found a property in a great neighborhood which should see some up swing in the next year and a half, due to some gentrification going on.    

I am from Boston and am an Engineer by trade.

Why not stay where you are (and where all your stuff is stored) if you can swing it?

Desk jobs do not sound appealing so kind of leaning toward a skilled trade that would work well with rehabbing (HVAC, Electrician, Carpentry etc.).
