This demand comes from primarily high priced markets were the cost of entry is quite a bit higher than the quote un quote turnkey markets of Central US and deep south and Rust belt cities.. that's were the inventory is that can be bought.. there is more houses than there are owner occ's to fill them.. so this creates inventory for flippers for rental purposes.. take it another step along the food chain an these companies realized for customer care and a full service package they needed property management in house and tight controls on rehabs..

If you are going to market them as a Corporate Rental there are guidelines that can help you connect with the right customer. 

I have a handful of bird dogs who I will pay upfront when they bring me a list of 20+ vacant properties with pictures.

If you find the right customer you want to work with and can wait, then this is definitely a good option.

A short term rental cannot compete with these resorts since they don't have what people want: the amenities and unlimited food and drink to do.The short-term rental customers oftentimes hate Punta Cana (all those I've met at least) want a different experience.

Has anyone hired a photographer to take pictures of your rental?

You'll have to do signing electronically pretty much.If you're able to get boots on the ground, to go out and take pictures for you that'll be great.
