It's not that I'm a procrastinator, it's that I'm a researcher (I was in academia until medical issues forced me to withdraw) and want to have as much information as possible beforehand.  

We both are teachers in the Kansas City Area and my husband, Thomas, with a MA rather than a PhD has found it VERY difficult to secure a stable position in academia.

For clarities sake, i'm looking for material that's written by an academia (preferably by a PhD), or someone with significant experience, and a proven track record.

Recently I realized that career path in academia is not my cup of tea so I started digging into the real estate investing opportunities.

Unless you really want to do complex models or really want to learn about M1 and M2 money supplies you can probably get away with some really good books by experts in the field (non-academia).One more question unrelated to college: My ultimate goal is to make passive income off buy and hold real estate investments, but that isn't a day job I can start out with.

It gives students better opportunities for extra curricular activities, scholarships, athletics, and in most cases (not all) academia.

For a lot of academia, that's the point of academia.

Same goes for the Bay, IMO - you don't have the confluence of academia, industry and money that these places have.

Never thought of a college rental as a status symbol - maybe my business card title will be "LANDLORD OF ACADEMIA"
