Not that minimum wage is something we should aim for, but it is easy to track. 1975 minimum wage where I am (Canada) was $2.15-2.75/hr (each province has their own), today $13-16.75.hr.I agree that some cities have become unaffordable to many, but you still have people wanting to live there (their choice) and often renting as a result.

I can pick very literally any country on earth, any state, province, region, and have no problem picking out areas of sparse population density, these area are commonly referred to as nature Preserves, or Agricultural lands, water sheds etc..
