With explanation that specific costs have changed, and the rent survey showing that to be a very reasonable rent still. 

They were required to obtain a survey costing $500.

Hi BiggerPockets friends, we are in the process of building an addition in our PR and city is asking for a survey.

Does that include the studies, surveying, etc?

They make a product and then find people to purchase or then survey the people and create a product to fit their needs.

As soon as you go to 2, 3, 4unit properties you're looking at 750-1050 dollars plus if you're doing a rental property and are required to do a rental property survey (AKA form 1007 for the loan officers out there) then thats another 125-150 dollars.This assumes you dont have any repairs (double strapped water heaters, health/safey repairs, CO/Smoke Detectors, being most common).

I mean just surveying a 100 acre parcel out in the boonies could cost 20 to 30k or more. the Key to selling land is owner financing.. without it going to be a long slog.. there are only so many cash buyers and there is no bank or very few that will loan on land unless as Russ says hi value infill.  

The beauty of getting a college degree is its always asked in just about any application or survey, job app, family member, parent, etc.  

All in legal (ppm, title, survey, op agreements, negotiations, etc) on an acquisition (we also use HUD financing which puts legal expenses on the high side) is usually 30 to 50k.
