I have heard unsettling stories about home insurance costs doubling or even tripling for single and small multifamily houses in certain parts of Florida.

Triple all of these, and give it a least 90 days or more to see some resultsFor someone on a budget, just driving around in neighborhoods looking for vacant or distressed properties can prove successful.

For me it's apartment buildings and triple net leasing.

In some states the landlord has to give written notice if they are keeping any of the security deposit and this notice has to be sent within 30 days.I say this because in some states if the landlord keeps the security deposit and doesn't send notice the tenant can get double and some states even triple the amount back.

I would suggest creating a detailed plan with daily action items, build a network that is triple the size of your current network, and be prepared to make a lot of mistakes!

I cannot hire a contractor for months, and again the cost would triple. 

I hope to triple this in the next 8-10 years.

You can find incredible farms in Western MA and Southern VT for $500k-$1M, but by the time you get through zoning and permitting and fire safety and septic design and this that and the other, you might have double or triple that invested.
