Do you charge tenants a fee for re-keying the door locks upon move out, IF they turn in the keys to you?

When tenants move out and it is time to either rekey or replace the locks, is this cost typically covered by property management company or the owner?

If it's vacant, I would get a locksmith to change the locks immediatley and send notice to the PM that she is not to set foot on the property.I recommend you assess your situation honestly.

@JD it becomes your problem when the scammer tells the people to hire a locksmith and move in, I have heard that has happened.

Put a lockbox with spare key on their door handle.Put the telephone number of a locksmith on the box as well, for when they don't put the spare key back.

If you have title, hire a locksmith and replace locks.
