Hi,My friend is building an ADU (accessory dwelling unit) in their backyard in Los Angeles area and wondered what might be some good choices for a front door that is 3 ft-0 in wide, 6 ft-8 in high, and 1 3/4 inch thick?

If you're worried about a potential market crash, I would advise making the leap a little bit easier by doing a owner occupied with an accessory apartment.

If you do solar, consider using that electricity for your house and having the accessory unit on regular power as the tenant will pay for that. 

California allows creating a JADU (junior accessory dwelling unit) up to 500sf carved out of the existing house and a separate ADU up to 1200sf that can be a garage conversion.

It may be worth it for you to include homes with accessory dwellings... in-law suites or garage apartments.
