@Tameka Studevan ,  My wife and I are military as well and we just decided on the turnkey route, due to our constant moves, deployment possibilities, and overall workload.  

But, money inside a 401(k) can be used only in specific circumstances and requires knowledge or expense to deploy.

This is really just me doing some analysis for homework sake(killing boredom during deployment).I've been looking for info online but no real luck so far.

I was told personally when terminating early due to my spouses orders that you can only do so for PCS or over 30 day deployments.

I am currently an Engineer working on contract with the US Navy (with regular deployments overseas), but looking to escape the 9-5 under someone else's guide and work towards freedom on my own terms; to be able to provide a quality life for my wife and two kids, as well as be able to give them more of my time than I am currently able.

Tying up large amounts of capital for two years at a time would be far too restrictive for me when I could deploy that capital to better uses.

End goal would be a variation of an investment trust/company where pooled cash could be deployed in various different ways (not only real estate).

We had been married for almost 6 months and I was looking for months since I had got back from a deployment.
