Experience flipping properties with cash?

It's been great seeing the wealth of information you all post! I'm new to this site and I think its about time I muster the courage to ask a few questions that've been on my mind. 

I'm curious about flipping homes with cash. Particularly I'm wondering if anyone has any experience purchasing homes under distress or foreclosed properties with cash and selling them. I'd love to know how this strategy turned out. I've heard it can be profitable, especially if you live in the home for a few years while renovating to avoid capital gains tax.

Also how much cash on hand is generally required?
