We submitted an offer contingent on inspection and the seller rejected it, saying we can get an inspection, but the home is being sold "as-is" with no repairs covered.

He'll reject the offer but that's ok.  

And what do buyers expect (and reject) in that price range where you are?

While I´m not in the business to piss people off, I also have absolutely no problem asking for something - rejection doesn´t bother me, and if it results in some home-run deals, then all the better.
