Outside of the huge difference in property values in the city vs. in the 'burbs, are suburban sellers just more sophisticated, and tend to sell via REALTORS more so than their inner-city counterparts?

I am looking to move in order to save time and gasoline, and I have been toying with the idea of purchasing a 3-4 bedroom house that is closer to work with the intent of renting my current room out to another friend, then living in the new house while renting out 1-2 rooms out in the new house.

The trouble with that was with the gasoline rationing, there weren't many cars on the road.The only reason that many breeds of dog survived the rationing was that they were fed road kill.

I don't expect housing to come back up to top-of-the-bubble prices any time soon when priced in inflation adjusted dollars.However, government claims aside, the dollar has been losing purchasing power for a number of years now and I can't see how anything currently happening is going to stop it from getting worse.Anyone who buys groceries or gasoline or heat for their house knows that inflation has been with us for years.
