Hey guys, I was wondering what your take was on this situation.I'm thinking about buying a few older rental single family homes vs buying a newer home.Here are the specs.Older HouseBuilt: 1950 - 1970Cost: $40k - $50kSqft: 900 - 1300sqft, 3 bedRental Income: $600 - $800 /monthOn a scale of 1 - 10, 5 being middle class type of house, I would say it's like a 3, it's not in a great neighbor, but it's not what you see on TV when you think of the Ghetto, gangs, violence, etc.

I inherited a 1 BR with a great tenant who is always timely with payments, a vacant 2 bedroom which I converted to a furnished 1 BR with a lounge/TV room and rent to business travelers for MTR's, and a 3 BR with tenants in place which is the source of my problems lately.

In all honesty, it gets very little use; more often than not I find the HDMI on the TV in the game lounge has been unplugged because the kids have brought their own system.
