I drive a beater, brown bag my lunch and brew my own coffee.  

A great deal of it is an extremely dark brown clay we call "black dirt", which is gummier than anything you would use for pottery!  

Note the distance between the slab and the bottom of the wall (for reference: white is baseboard. thin brown line on slab is carpet tack strip).

But, if you are in a high income area and you need to make small changes to spruce up the place, then something along those lines would be appropriate.I tend to hate brown trim and brown doors.

Even now when I turn on the outside spigots (front or rear) the first couple of pints of water is brown-dirty.

It's the two different browns (cabinets, countertop) that are bringing this down, IMO.
