It is a peer and beam style home.A good first move would be to get an arrow staple  gun and Staple some thick plastic over all of the windows on the outside and all over the holes on the walls on the outside and over the doors to keep the interior sealed .

I recently dealt with sugar ants (tiny light-brown ants) which had found their way into the plastic bags in which I put my food in the pantry in an effort to discourage them.

The sliders are still generally solid wood outer frames and the worst the tenants can do is knock it off the track or damage the plastic guide on the floor, which is cheap to replace.
