But yeah, less care is taken to insulate everything around here because the temperature here is more moderate than Canada. 

I don't blame my contractors for not wanting to work in these frigid temperatures with no heat in the house.

Today was our first day with temperatures above freezing since early December and we just finished a month where the highs were <-17C (0F) and not a frozen pipe.  

Just last week a really nice property flooded during the extreme temperatures we just experienced.

Keeping the thermostat at 75 will keep the the heater running for long period of time to maintain the house at that temperature. 

Here in Vegas, we set thermostats to 80 in the Summer, and 67 in the winter.While 80 is quite high, its feel really cool when you come in from 100+ degree heat.We found that temperature to be efficient for keeping prospective buyers comfortable while keeping our utility costs down.

Every time the temperature drops below average everybody starts talking about I thought there was supposed to be global warming.

Or even during the summer in especially hot climates (working on clay and tile roofs in Phoenix, for example).As an example, I spent the winter working on a project up north, where part of the buyer's lender's conditions for sale was that the house needed to be painted (it had really bad peeling paint), but the temperatures didn't get above 50 degrees for about three months, and paint won't stick in cold temperatures.

Our City is small enough that I can cover most of it, and all of the downtown core, comfortable on my daily run or when transporting the toddler to and from day care by bike {Yes, event this time of year when the temperatures are not too low ....
