Very high light bill!

Hello BP,

I just got word from my tenant that her gas/light bill was $500 this month!  I know it has been cold this past month but I think that is way too high. I did go by to look at a few things last month and noticed she kept the thermostat at 75. I also had the AC checked out before she moved in and the hvac company said everything looked good. Should I be worried or just chalk this up to the weather and her wanting to keep the house very warm? What else could be causing such a high bill? Should I have something checked out? I definitely do not want to cause my tenant undue high energy bills. Any advice is appreciated.

Did you actually see the bill..?   or confirm with utility company?

I ask because..  well..   Is that going to be her excuse to be short on next months rent payment...  ?
